Slow Down and Notice! PDF Print E-mail

“To create is to behold, waken and awaken.”

“To know joy, we must know the heart.”

“True joy is an inside thing.  True joy does not come from the outside.”

– Matthew Fox, Author, Creativity, Where the Divine and Human Meet

Sounds simple doesn’t it?

“Oh yeah, I know that!” you say.

Contemplate that for a moment...slowly…and while you are consciously breathing….

I  N  H  A  L  E .  .  .   D  E  E  P  L  Y.  .  hold  .  . exhale .  .  i   n  h  a  l  e .  . d  e  e  p  l  y .  .  .

hold  .  . exhale .  .  again.  .  i  n  h  a  l  e .    .  hold  .  .  exhale .  .  .  breathe normally .  .  .

and continue breathing normally .  .  .

“to create is to behold…waken…and awaken…to know joy, we must know the heart….true joy is an inside thing…true joy does not come from the outside…”

Notice anything different after the breathing?  Pay attention to that!  If you didn’t notice anything, pay attention to that too!

How familiar, how deeply familiar are these words, and yet, how often we forget this simple truth.

We rush around every day, every moment for that matter, running, chasing, and moving. We have places to go, people to see, work to be done.  Responsibilities, obligations, e-mails, voice mails and pagers…even cell phones lobby for our time!  Cell phones, what would life be without cell phones? I love my cell phone!

And yet, the simple truth is, “True joy is an inside thing!”

Do we even stop to notice?

Do we stop long enough to feel and connect with the creative spirit inside?

Imagine connecting to it and inviting it to dance! What would that be like?  Where might you go?  What might you do, and create from this place?

Creativity is the spark that ignites energy in the moment. We all have it within.  It is available to all of us, residing in our hearts and waiting patiently to be invited out to play!

Take the time to slow down, feel the vitality and creative spirit within you, and listen to it.  Listen with your whole body and invite it to dance!  See what you create, and then, feel your heart and notice!
